Sigma Chi has a long history of academic excellence which the Sigma Chi Canadian Foundation seeks to encourage. To this end the Foundation established the George Fierheller Awards. The George Fierheller Awards recognize the chapters that achieve the highest academic achievement and the most improved academic standing amongst the Canadian chapters. The Chapter with the highest standing receives a recognition plaque and $750. The most improved chapter receives a plaque and $250.
The chapter consuls apply on behalf of their chapter by collecting the transcript information from all brothers and determining the chapter GPA average. The Chapter Advisor is to sign off on it and it is submitted to the Scholarship & Grants Committee Chair. All chapters are encouraged to apply in order to establish baseline for those who may qualify in subsequent years for the most improved award.
Purpose: To challenge each Chapter to commit to Fraternities core value of Learning.
Beneficiary: Individual Chapter
Eligibility: Ever active Brother enrolled in an undergraduate program.
Amount: $250 for most improved chapter, $750 for chapter with highest GPA.
Application Procedure: Collect a transcript for each active member and determine the chapter GPA. Submit to your Chapter Advisor who will submit it to the Scholarship & Grants Committee Chair for evaluation.
Validation & Judging Procedure: Judged by SCF Committee
