This Grand Chapter was dedicated to Ralph Connable and he was then formally designated as "The Father of Sigma Chi in Canada". It was felt desirable to ensure that there would always be a Canadian member of the Grand Council, and in order to accomplish this the three Canadian Chapters were formed into a separate Province. Thus, the first Canadian province (Ontario - Quebec) was created by removing those areas from the Eastern and Western New York Provinces. It would later be rejoined with St. Lawrence University in New York to become the Ontario-Quebec - St. Lawrence Province, due to the fact that St. Lawrence was far removed from the other New York Chapters and was closer to McGill. Recently the Canadian chapters have been separated from those in the United States to reform the Ontario-Quebec Province.
